It all starts today

Today, the 2 week mark from my surgery, marks the start of the clinical diet.

The diet is basically 3 optifast ‘things’ per day. They have milkshakes, deserts, soups and bars (like museli bars).

I was very busy this morning and ended up just eating an berry bar and 600ml water. I have to say I was doubting what I had heard about how nasty this stuff is.

Anyway, its lunch time and I’m half way through a vanilla shake. Now I know what was meant when others complained, this stuff tastes horrible.

2 weeks of this stuff is going to drive me mad. Maybe ill live on the bars.

So far I’ve heard it called

  • optispew
  • optivomit
  • the ‘auschwitz’ diet

I can only hope that the chocolate is better than the vanilla.

Basketball

Occasionally I go to shoot the basketball. Apart from the Hawks continually failing to attribute photos to me, its nice to see my work being used in posters, buses and game night flyers.

Anyway, last night it occurred to me that despite the technological advantages we have made over the years, cold ankles are still something that need to be dealt with the old fashioned way.

The blind, illiterate and the just lazy

Years ago I started listening to audio books in the car. My daily commute to work consists of about 12 minutes of freeway driving with very short amounts of getting on and off. If theres heaps of traffic, it may even take 15 minutes however even this short time is enough to get a book finished every 2 weeks or so.

Now, about 50 or so books later, I thought I should share the idea and tell others to try it.

If you know me (and only people who know me read this :-) ) you should come and get some books from me to listen to. Just be sure to bring them back so someone else can borrow them after you. Or, if you want them in mp3 format, just tell me when you are listening to them so I can ensure no-one else is at the same time. I wouldn’t want to break any laws.

Anyway, If you pass the time just listening to rubbish on the radio, try some books.

The Airhawk

Recently I purchased the Airhawk.

If you ride motorcycles (or even just sit still for long periods of time) This is really cool. While riding, anything over about an hour or so starts to get very uncomfortable. With the Airhawk on the seat, its still comfortable after 3 or 4 hours (and probably longer but I’ve not been on the bike for that long yet).

This would have won the ‘coolest thing ever award’ for this year but the remote just beat it.
